The NT Songwriter Spotlight Series is an intimate live music performance series that showcases local original Northern Territory singer/songwriters at the much loved Darwin City live music venue Happy Yess. These nights aren't just for the artist to be heard, but to be deeply listened to.

π€ Gaia is Humpty Doo (NT) based producer, violinist and vocalist Gaia Osborne. Drawing on the sounds of the natural environment she calls home, Gaia weaves stories and reflections on how we ground ourselves and connect to each other and the world around us through ethereal rap, with soaring violin and big bass beats. A strong collaborator in the NT music scene, Gaia has performed with just about everyone!
π€ Adam Scriven is a guitarist, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with an array of harmonicas, stomp box and yidaki (didgeridoo). His toe-tapping melodies are infectious and his lyrics are conscious, uplifting and emotive. Adam has a reputation for a dynamic live performances throughout the Top End but this style of show allows you to really take in his exciting sound, his musical journey and the stories behind his songs.
π€ MAIA is a singer/songwriter and guitarist based in Darwin who journeys through R&B, reggae, jazz, soul and funk. She began writing songs at the age of 8, started hitting the stage at 16 , and found her sound busking on the streets. She has gone on to support major acts like Katchafire, Decepticonz, House of Shem, Son's of Zion, 1814, Maisey Rika and Ardijah. While she has obtained her Diploma in Contemporary Music, her greatest classrooms are on stage with her peers. Maia draws from her cultural roots and family traditions during her writing process to produce her idea of soulful sounds. She'll be sharing her unreleased originals from her 'Playing with Fire' library, which she describes as "following your passions, going against the grain, breaking boundaries and following your dreams - big or small"
Performances take place at the much-loved Darwin City live music venue Happy Yess, and feature three acts per show performing original works and sharing their stories behind the songs. Itβs a great opportunity for audiences to get to know the talented musicians in an engaging, intimate and memorable way. This songwriter project is not just open to singer/guitarists.
Happy Yess prides itself on diversity and this series continued their legacy of showcasing the diverse genres of the Northern Territory music scene, including some acoustic hip-hop as well as some in-language songs from First Nation musicians.
