Regina Pilawuk Wilson founded the community of Peppimenarti with her late husband Harold Wilson in 1973.

This video shows Regina taking members of her family to a sacred and special rock art site called Pinnipih Hill, near where she was born in the outstation community of Wudigapildhiyerr, in the Daly River region.

The rock art site on the outskirts of the Peppimenarti flood plain, is a rock shelter which provided protection during the wet season and is an elevated sandstone rock overhang. There are drawings of animals, people paintings, durrmu, a picture of a man with a fish.

One of Regina’s granddaughters brought her new boyfriend to the site, resulting in an initiation ritual of Regina which included her spouting water onto the young man’s head to protect him from the spirits of her ancestors.
